The big electron

I can see the hand of God in the spin of the electron,

Folding and unfurling in higher dimensional space,

Rotating 720 degrees before coming back round again,

Cresting and waving in superpositions, everywhere at once,

Decillions Drifting through time across the endless expanse,

A fluctuating face hovering over waters contemplating what is yet to come,

Dusty electrons dancing in the blinding furnace of proton fusion,

Only to explode out into a formless earth,

Only to spray sweet sunlight into the crevice and rocky mists,

Only for cold carbon held together by bonding pairs

To drift a billion years on beaches under the light of broken moon,

Until proteins folded over, gave up the fight, submitted to the iron will of electromagnetism,

And complex organic chemistry began in the folding fractured plume of the Earth,

And the electrons said “Let there be a phospholipid bi-layer” and the enthalpy obeyed.

And the electrons said “Let there be DNA”

and the great mouth of the Earth groaned. giving up the animals out of the dust.

What could spark a life that can see across the light of a trillion suns

But a mind in the form of a word, a pattern spinning out from the dark?
